Once again, a beautiful creature has been euthanized after racing. Eight Belles, the only filly in the Kentucky Derby, came in second to Big Brown and immediately after her race collapsed on the track. When they rushed into examine her, they found she had broken her front two ankles and of course there is no way that a horse can live without the ability to stand. She had to be euthanized. It really upsets me when that happens because perhaps these horses shouldn’t be raced at all. It seems cruel and wrong. I know I had put the Derby on the DVR to watch, but everytime it seems another horse goes down. In general, I think I am against racing horses or any animal. I am sure that her owners, trainers and jockey are sick about this. I know that people in the horse world love their animals. I also felt bad for the winner because it is hard to be happy when other people are sad.
